Rich purple and red tones combine to give a sense of mounting dread at the impending apocalypse. Dynamic slashes across the centre of the canvas evoke a meteor shower or crashing spaceship. Yet the overall effect is still one of peace, as though somehow the inevitability of the oncoming storm liberates the viewer from earthly concerns.
