Freedom Mortgage reports record philanthropic efforts in 2018

Mount Laurel, NJ - January 9, 2019 - Freedom Mortgage and its founder and CEO Stanley C. Middleman were recently presented with Liberty United Service Organizations' (USO) esteemed 2018 Chairman's Award in honor of their service to the military community and their support of Liberty USO. The award recognizes Freedom Mortgage for making a difference in southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Freedom Mortgage is one of the nation's largest full-service non-bank mortgage companies and a leader in VA and government-insured lending.

Working with Liberty USO has been truly gratifying, Middleman said. I wholeheartedly support their mission of enhancing the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces personnel and their families. He added, It's an honor to receive the Liberty USO's 2018 Chairman's Award. We look forward to continuing our support of this outstanding organization.

The Liberty USO award capped a record year of giving for Freedom Mortgage. The company donated to various military and civilian non-profits nationwide and gave thousands of volunteer hours. It participated in a wide variety of food drives, event sponsorships and collections supporting communities around the country. Most recently, Freedom Mortgage employees collected over 3,400 toys nationally at the company's annual toy drive. Beneficiary organizations include the Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House and Toys for Tots.

During the holidays and all year long, we give back to our communities and to our active-duty and veteran service members, Middleman said. We have a strong culture that is deeply focused on philanthropy, which makes our year-round calendar of giving possible.

Freedom Mortgage's commitment to giving back to active-duty troops, veterans and their families remains the pillar of its Team Freedom Cares employee engagement and corporate giving program. This year Freedom Mortgage employees collected more than 2,600 backpacks and school supplies for military families across the country and sent over 1,000 handwritten notes to traveling troops through USO airport lounges. The Skating for Service event raised more than $11,000 for the Liberty USO, and another $5,000 was raised through the Freedom Mortgage 5K Run/Fun Walk benefitting the Liberty USO and Homes for Our Troops.

Freedom Mortgage is also committed to helping in the fight against hunger through a national partnership with Feeding America. Now in its third year, the 2018 Team Freedom Cares Food Drive collected nine tons of food items for Feeding America food banks in AZ, CA, FL, IN, MD, NJ, NY and PA. Freedom Mortgage was also a returning sponsor of the Southern N.J. Summer Meals program providing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks to 6,400 local children who normally depend on their school lunch program as a source for meals.

Each year Freedom Mortgage sponsors the Cooper Hospital Foundation's gala and the American Cancer Society of Southern New Jersey's Hope Gala. At the ACS 2019 gala in April, Mr. Middleman will be recognized as its Man of the Year for the company's contributions. Freedom Mortgage also sponsored the Spark! Fishers community event in Fishers, Indiana, where the company has a large mortgage servicing facility. The company also celebrated its one-millionth customer at the event by paying a local military veteran's mortgage for a year.

Freedom Mortgage's community spirit is inspired from the top down and shared among its employees. Giving back to military veterans and their families and helping those less fortunate in our local communities is such an important part of our company culture, Middleman said. I'm proud of all our philanthropic work, and I'm grateful for all of the hard-working and generous people at Freedom Mortgage. Together, I believe we're making a difference.
